Following its sustainability strategy with clearly defined focus topics, Datwyler reduces its environmental footprint and creates value for all its stakeholders. The company recently decided to go one step further by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and working towards binding greenhouse gas reduction targets.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is the leading global framework for setting science-based climate targets for companies and shows how corporate greenhouse gas emissions from scope 1, 2 and 3 need to evolve over time to meet the global climate target set out in the Paris Climate Agreement. This target is to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Over 9,000 companies have already joined the SBTi and Datwyler recently became one of them. This underlines the company’s commitment to being a responsible partner for all its stakeholders. In the next few months, Datwyler will specify ambitious and achievable emission reduction targets with a time horizon of 5-10 years, which will be reviewed and approved by SBTi.
“At Datwyler, we recognize our impact on climate change and by joining the Science Based Targets initiative, we are demonstrating how seriously we take our role in tackling the climate challenge. It’s our responsibility to take meaningful action and to contribute to building a sustainable future.”
